On subsequent reissues (including the 1997 Mercury edition), most of the mono versions were replaced by either remastered stereo versions or, in many cases, \"remixes\" by Roger Wake \u0026amp; Mike Gill that combined alternate vocal and\/or instrumental takes into new stereo versions of the songs that differ, sometimes significantly, from the original versions. That's because many of the original tracks were never mixed to stereo in 1964, or the original stereo masters have been lost to time (and warehouse fires).
